Compact Cylinders
As the name suggests, compact cylinders are small in size and offer great performance when space is a priority. The compact design of the cylinder means that they can be fitted into even tighter spaces than other types of pneumatic actuators.

They are commonly used in animationronics, conveyors and material handling equipment, custom assembly and test systems, packaging and palletizing machinery, paper converting machinery, plastic molding machinery, printing presses, stamping and forming lines, semiconductor processing equipment and door and window frame manufacturing equipment.
Types of Compact Cylinders
There are two main types of compact cylinders: single-acting and double-acting. In a single-acting cylinder, air pressure retracts the piston rod and the spring force causes the piston to extend when pressure is removed. This makes these cylinders ideal for actuating flaps and levers, clamping parts and ejecting parts.
A double-acting cylinder is a more versatile option when equal displacement is required on both sides of the piston. It is also mechanically advantageous to couple a load to both ends or when an extra end can be used to install cams for controlling limit switches.
